居伊·德波於1931年12月28日齣生在巴黎。1950年德波開始瞭與字母主義國際(LI)的交往。1957年字母主義國際與名為包豪斯印象運動國際的藝術傢們一起建立瞭情境主義國際(SI)，德波自任該組織的領袖。

1967年德波齣版瞭他的重要著作《景觀社會》，他還於1973年製作瞭《景觀社會》的電影版本(德波稱自己是導演)。
