在我心裏，最懂情的是曹雪芹和歌德，但是把情解釋的最好的是柏拉圖，思想怎麼可以這麼美呢

首先，真正的修辭技藝是基於真理之上的，而認知真理的途徑是辯證法，就是哲學。其次，是引導靈魂的技藝（271d），因此必須理解（聽眾）靈魂的本質以及作用方式，並將之分類，然後施以相應的言辭。

這篇還是蠻有意思的，把追求transcendent good的love比作好的修辭，而追求滿足的lust比作壞的修辭。好的修辭讓人變更好，壞的修辭隻滿足欲望，不僅剝削瞭欲望的對象，同時毀滅瞭欲望者本身。書中用到一個Demus的例子，雅典美少年，高爾吉亞篇裏強大的政客Callicles的欲望對象，比作壞的修辭，壞的修辭中，更加superior的Callicles不得不降低自身到年輕的immature或者inferior的Demus 的level來please him以滿足欲望。而蘇格拉底同年輕男生Phaedrus則不同，蘇格拉底提升瞭P，同時是P的理想老師選擇。他們之間的flirtation是P的transformation的象徵。
