有多少星，就想給多少顆星。這本書就算是中國人，日常浸潤在這樣的政治文化中，恐怕也沒有辦法能寫齣來。許多“隻可意會”的微妙之處作者都能在書中很好地解讀。全書討論瞭許多感興趣的問題。例如，中國人害怕亂和無序，喜歡穩定；中國人喜歡區分敵我；反智主義；中國的羞恥文化（shame culture）和西方的有罪文化（guilt culture）;仇恨，以及情感在政治中的地位；平等和等級關係（以及中國為什麼沒有能真正相信的國傢）；勤勞的老百姓和遲緩的官員階層的鮮明對比；關係網絡；民族主義和族群的區彆，以及中國並不是一個現代意義上的民族國傢，而是僞裝成國傢的文明。

神作不解釋！作為海外中國研究，對中國政治生態的把握堪稱vivid，語言也極好。還需要再讀。
