Given what I am experiencing is how those underprivileged students are trained in the same way, sometimes I just can't help interrupting what they are encountering and really feel sorry for almost nothing can I do to comfort them when they experience those upset moments. I don't know how to treat them who has illusions about the great future.

可讀性很高的民族誌。教育對於階級再生産，在不同社會有不同的作用方式，不同於布迪厄觀察到的法國上層階級的文化區隔，在美國這種以“開放，包容，努力工作，自我實現”為主流正確觀念的社會，上層階級通過精英學校實現瞭用個人優勢掩蓋階級特權，獲得瞭正當性。最早的資本貴族麵對“血汗工廠”尚有階級的負罪感，並在文化上受封建貴族的嘲弄，這些資産階級的子女們在60年代革命裏顛覆瞭傳統貴族的文化優勢，完成瞭父輩未竟的文化革命；而現代的資本貴族利用教育，逐漸讓自己的優勢變得如封建社會的血緣貴族那樣“自然”。

有的時候有點陳詞濫調+過度解讀。總體精華在最後一章，明白為毛都憋著想上私立高中瞭，資源和眼界都是大不同，且教的不隻是知識，而是思考世界的方式方法。“寒門難齣貴子”確實有其道理。依照作者說法，如今特權階層再也不是高高在上，能雅俗共賞深入群眾纔是真精英！
