There are many paradoxes. The self-conscious brain is a disorder and manifests itself in the acute feeling of separation between “I” and my experience. “Fixing” will never make sense out of change. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

I'm really grateful to have received this book as a graduation gift, cuz i've been through a wonderful philosophical journey. Live in and savor the moment completely, be undivided, never lament the past or expect things in the future, focus on HERE and NOW. I'd like to know more about the author.

蛮好的大众哲学读物，比较适合西方读者及西方文明影响到的更广大的人群。在广义基督教的框架内，以现象学分析为方法，抵达了与东方智慧/禅宗相同的结论。因基本未涉哲学或宗教方面的名词，文字相当浅显易读。总结一下的话，不安全感是种现代病，消除不安全感的办法，在于去掉“我执”，认识到除了此时此刻，我们并不拥有其他。这个自我意识里的“我”与我们经验到的感受是同一的。对觉得佛经义理艰深的读者，先看看这本也不错。

最受益的观点是：在（某些）“此刻”面前，抛掉所有判断和思考，无论快乐或痛苦，只是当成全新的体验去感受。感觉是即刻的，过去的感觉永远无法作为准确的参照物。失去感受现在的能力，未来也不过是糖分一样让人上瘾的空虚许诺。言语，逻辑和思想只能捕捉能够被它们捕捉的东西。孤立感的根源在于把自己和“此刻”分隔开。“There is no rule but ‘Look!’” “It is a dance.” / 在不知满足几乎要失去快乐的能力的阶段看很合适。也许还能再抢救一下。 / 略啰嗦，可以缩到1/3-1/2。

阿伦• 瓦兹(1915—1973)，美国神学博士，禅宗信徒，对印度与中国的哲学宗教有精深的了解。他的思想受到铃木大拙的影响，同时又不局限于东西方宗教和哲学的某一领域，这也让瓦兹赢得了“二十世纪最具原创性、最‘离经叛道’哲学家之一”的头衔。
