E. H. Gombrich's Little History of the World, though written in 1935, has become one of the treasures of historical writing since its first publication in English in 2005. Gombrich was of course the best-known art historian of his time, and his text suggests illustrations on every page. 短小精悍，有趣有高度，适合入门或者历尽千帆后返璞归真。one more star if renamed into A Little History of the "Western Europe", rather than "the World".
评分我的历史入门，读起来非常有史诗感，但是只能算是历史上，尤其是欧洲史比较重大事件的讲述，帮助认清了很多欧洲的人名，如果能配上地图或者相应时间就更好了。不过没想到贡布里希对中国的认识也就是欧美普通学过历史的高中生水平，竟然把秦始皇叫做"Enemy of History" 以最后一章的一句话结尾，One can be attached to one's own country without needing to insist that the rest of the world's inhabitants are worthless.
评分头两章不错，后面就以欧美史为主了，其他洲没多少存在感。做少儿读物还行，我抱着学历史常识学词汇的目的来的，这个就有点太浅了
评分好看。内容当然不是很深刻很全面，但作者的叙述方式和对待历史的态度，实在很值得看。有几处写communism的地方，好奇中文本怎么处理的。
