好小气推荐，Audible上听的第一本书，作者的声音低沉又具有安慰性，即使如此，读到很多很多片段我都在想她怎么做到不带哭腔地读出？太真实了太诚实了，关于很多很多和死亡有关的心思，都被她细致地捕捉到了。亲人去世后对周围没有经历失去的人的怨恨，照顾妈妈时对爸爸不能作为可靠伙伴的失望，和对照顾妈妈更熟练的阿姨的抗拒，想要用自己的婚礼让妈妈转移注意力并且让自己美的更自信的小小愿望，妈妈生病时想要化身为完美女儿为妈妈承担痛苦的念头，妈妈去世后学习做各种韩国传统料理努力不要让自己身上来自妈妈那部分身份丢失掉。但是听到作者说，父母的家被出售，那些带有回忆的地方不复存在，还是有些酸楚。失去后的重建，就像白菜被发酵成泡菜一样，尽管腐烂，却随后以另一种方式获得了新生。

作者身为一个混血儿，隔年暑假会跟妈妈到韩国探亲，站在她身边的妈妈如同一个注脚，解释了她为何在韩国、长相略约像韩国人。可是当妈妈去世后她独自一人在韩国时，不仅路人对她是谁感到困惑，她或许也对自己是谁产生了困惑。成长过程中她一直抗拒自己身上韩国的部分，可是当妈妈罹患癌症之后，她开始试图通过食物与妈妈以及韩国文化重新建立联系，探寻被自己遗失的美好韩国文化遗产。作者说从来没有人告诉过她人生病后逐渐枯萎的过程是什么样子的，她措手不及。所以她在书中详细记录了妈妈是如何被癌症一点点侵蚀掉的，希望能够帮助他人。同时这也是作者自我治愈、从丧母之痛中恢复的方法。作者拥有的清晰流畅的表达能力，是我渴望的。
