如何失去又如何retain memories？亞裔文化裏的母女關係總是讓人有很多共鳴，比如關於食物的執著與愛，比如對彼此的期待以及不解，比如從依賴到逃離。很喜歡對食物，做飯的過程以及那些依然在作者記憶裏關於文化的點點滴滴的描繪。最潸然淚下的片段是一個做飯的片段。有很多很喜歡的小細節和一些背景裏的感受。

The book is characterized by Michelle’s identity and abilities to evoke images through the smallest of details. Love can be complex yet difficult, and it is represented in many ways, especially food, through which man searches for a piece of home or themselves. 有一些部分是很感人的。但是作為一本書敘事結構設計的不太閤理，導緻略顯冗長。

每本母女之間的迴憶錄對我來說都是一種學習，好像是在“偷窺”彆人傢裏，那種復雜的無法割捨的情感是怎樣的。讀書的時候也一直在想我媽會做的菜，我一道都不會。
